Joe Stanford, known as Squatch, at a campground discussing why he started Camping With Squatch, a resource for RV owners, camping tips, campground guides, RV tours, and family camping adventures in Tennessee.

If you've spent any time around my website, social media pages, or videos, you've probably noticed that most people know me as "Squatch."

So I figured it was time to tell the story behind the name, why I started Camping With Squatch, and what I hope to accomplish along the way.

First Things First… Why "Squatch"?

The answer is pretty simple.

I'm a big guy, and I've been fascinated with Bigfoot lore for as long as I can remember. Somewhere along the way, people started calling me Squatch, and the nickname stuck.

To be honest, I embraced it because there are a lot of Joes in the world, but there aren't many Squatches. (hope I spelled that right)

It's fun, it's memorable, and let's face it—my customers never forget seeing an actual Squatch in the wild.

But the nickname is only part of the story.

Before RV Sales

Before I ever sold a camper, I spent more than 12 years as a photographer.

Photography taught me something important: people don't treasure photographs because of the camera.

They treasure them because of the memories.

The smiles. The vacations. The family moments .The stories behind the image.

When I eventually moved into sales, first in the powersports industry and later into RVs, I realized something.

Campers create those same memories.

Only instead of capturing them, you're helping people make them.

For someone who loves people, that was a pretty easy decision.

Why RV Sales?

People sometimes ask why I chose RV sales.

The truth is simple, I love people, I love hearing their stories, I love learning why they're shopping for a camper.

For some families, it's their first RV and they're nervous about making the right choice. For others, they're experienced campers looking for the next chapter of their adventures. Every family has a different story.

And every camper represents something bigger than a vehicle.

It represents time together.

  • Adventure.

  • Memories.

  • A chance to unplug from the noise of everyday life.

The Camping Memories That Started It All

Some of my best memories growing up came from camping.

My family camped whenever we could.

Those weekends weren't fancy.

What I remember most are the simple things:

  • Campfires.

  • Laughing with family.

  • Exploring outdoors.

  • Spending time together without distractions.

Today, kids are surrounded by phones, tablets, social media, and constant notifications. Camping gives families something different, it gives them a chance to slow down, to connect, to make memories that last a lifetime.

That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about helping people get into camping. I know firsthand how meaningful those experiences can be.

Why I Chose A&L RV

When I decided to join the RV industry, I looked at several dealerships.

I kept coming back to one thing:

Family ownership.

That's important to me.

A&L RV Sales is family owned, and that matters.

But it wasn't the only reason.

I also spent time reading reviews.

What stood out wasn't just the number of reviews—it was what people were saying.

Customers talked about

  • Sales.

  • Service.

  • Parts.

  • Support after the sale.

That told me something important.

The people here care about customers the same way I do.

Because when someone buys a camper from me, I want to know they'll be taken care of long after delivery day.

What Frustrates Me About The Buying Process

If you've ever shopped for a major purchase, you've probably experienced some of these:

  • Pushy salespeople.

  • Hidden fees.

  • Being treated like a number instead of a person.

  • Pressure.

  • Lack of trust.

I've never liked any of that.

My goal has always been simple.

  • Listen first.

  • Answer questions honestly.

  • Move at the customer's pace.

  • Treat people like family.

I've been fortunate to receive some amazing reviews from customers, and one thing I hear over and over is:

"You listened."

To me, that's one of the best compliments I could ever receive.

Why I Started Camping With Squatch

Camping With Squatch started because I wanted to create something bigger than a sales page.

I wanted a place where people could learn.

A place where new campers could find answers.

A place where experienced campers could pick up tips, discover campgrounds, and enjoy content that celebrates the camping lifestyle.

  • The blog posts.

  • The videos.

  • The campground guides.

  • The RV tours.

They're all built around one idea:

Helping people enjoy camping more.

Of course, I'd love the opportunity to help you find your next camper at A&L RV Sales in Murfreesboro.

But even if you never buy a camper from me, I still hope Camping With Squatch helps make your adventures a little better.

Looking Ahead

My goal is simple.

I want Camping With Squatch to become a trusted resource for campers throughout Middle Tennessee and beyond.

  • A place where people can find honest advice.

  • Useful information.

  • Helpful RV content.

  • And maybe a few laughs along the way.

Most importantly, I want to be known for the way I treat people.

Because campers come and go.

But relationships last.

One Last Thing

If you remember one thing about Joe "Squatch" Stanford, I hope it's this:

I genuinely care about people, I care about your family, I care about your camping adventures, and I care about helping you create memories you'll be talking about for years to come.

If our paths cross at a campground, on social media, or here at A&L RV Sales, don't hesitate to say hello.

Just keep an eye out for Squatch.
